Aerobics is an all-time classic Exercise class. It’s been around since the 80s and hasn’t changed much since, and for many people it should have stayed there. If you want to try something a bit different and, dare I say it, more exciting, there are a whole range of fun group classes you can choose from, with something to suit all tastes and abilities. Here are just a few that you might want to try.

· body Combat. body combat classes are fun, energetic, and really make you work up a sweat. They utilise moves from several martial arts disciplines (punches, kicks etc) and make them up into high-intensity routines that offer a great cardio workout. You’ll normally do the routines to music, like you would most Exercise classes, and because you’re constantly moving around and using different muscles than you normally would you can really tell that you’ve had a workout. Although high-intensity they’re incredibly fun, and I know from experience that you feel a whole lot better and even more powerful on leaving.

· Salsa Aerobics. Salsa aerobics, or indeed any other kind of dance-based aerobics class, makes the whole experience of exercising a lot more enjoyable. Because you’re using dance moves instead of regular aerobics moves it’s a lot more fun, and you’ll often feel like you’re at a dance class instead of an aerobics class so it won’t feel like so much of a chore.

· Yoga/Pilates. yoga and pilates classes are both great ways to work out your core muscles and increase balance and flexibility, and you’ll often find classes that integrate the two disciplines into something completely unique. They’re not high-intensity so are ideal for people that want something a bit gentler but still want to work out, and you’ll be able to get a lot leaner, toned, flexible and well-balanced after just a few sessions.

· body Conditioning. body conditioning classes often use weights as you work out, and are a great way to tone and strengthen your muscles in a group environment. They’re ideal to compliment other cardio classes as they’re offering you a great way to tone up, and because you’re with other people it will be a lot more enjoyable than hitting the gym.

· body Pump. body pump classes are another great way to really work up a sweat, and unlike regular aerobics there’ll be no boring moves that you have to keep track of. They use dumbbells to offer a mixture of cardio, strength training and toning, so you’re hitting all areas of your body for a great overall workout. You’ll use weights to target each muscle group individually, and you’ll really notice the difference.

As you can see, there are a number of group classes you might want to try instead of regular aerobics, and these are just a few of them. There’s something to appeal to everyone no matter if you’re looking for cardio, toning or strength training, so take a look at your local Gym to see what they have to offer.
